Yellow Bird for TV4
Acclaimed series featuring world-famous detective Kurt Wallander, based on original stories by novelist Henning Mankell.
Kurt Wallander is a complex man. Something of a loner, he’s dark and moody, he drinks too much and he sometimes breaks the law – the police won’t be coming after him though, he’s one of them.
In this, the original TV incarnation of Henning Mankell’s series of best selling books (over 25 million copies sold), Krister Henriksson assumes the role of the master detective, bringing justice to the criminals of Ystad, Southern Sweden in his own inimitable style. As if fighting his inner demons as well as murderers and thieves weren’t enough, Scandinavia’s most famous cop also has family issues, with a daughter who followed him into the force against his wishes.
Beautifully shot in the exquisite scenery offered by the Skane province of Sweden and featuring some masterful portrayals, these 2 series and 26 episodes remain faithful to the characters and stories that made Mankell’s books so popular. A hit right across Europe, this is crime drama at it’s very finest.
